The Karachi Grammar School took on the City School PAF Chapter at the Nadir-e-Burhani Ground on 21-11-2015.
PAF Chapter kicked off their innings with a good opening partnership between Asad Abbasi and Owais Khalid. They contributed 34 and 22 respectively before the partnership was broken by leg spinner Ali Rezah Pabaney. The Grammarians then siezed the opportunity to galvanize themselves, applying pressure from both ends. Captain Ghasharib Shoukat rotated Ali Anjum, Usman Nizam and Ali Rezah brilliantly, stopping the flow of runs that eventually led to the demise of the Chapter batting unit. Sumair Verani provided some resistence with his hard fought knock of 29, but his run out meant that PAF Chapter were restricted to just 128 all out. Usman Nizam picked up 3 wickets while Ali Rezah sent two batsmen back to the hut.
KGS got off to a shaky start as Owais Khalid broke through the defense of their opener on 0. However, Zair Riaz continued his red hot form from the other end, smashing the bowl to all ends of the ground. His scintillating knock of 74 in just 53 balls included a total of 9 boundaries and 2 colossal sixes. Khizer Saqib supported him at the crease, knocking the ball around brilliantly in the gaps for his 31 as the two put on a match winning partnership for the third wicket. Khizer Saqibs dismissal at the hands of Owais Khalid in the home stretch brought Ali Anjum out ot the middle, who applied the finishing touches on what had been an absolute masterclass from the Grammarian Line up. KGS won the game by 8 wickets as Zair Riaz picked up a well deserved man of the match award.
