Insurance Association of Pakistan v United Energy Pakistan
2nd Corporate Cup (20 over match)
IAP batted first and had a sub-lime day with the bat. Opener Farrukh Shahid started the innings off right with a blistering 48 runs. His partner Omer Ishtiaq however was the real star of the show with a mind-blowing display with the bat, scoring 104 runs at a strike rate of over 200. That was all IAP needed to post a massive target and contributions from the remaining batsmen propelled IAP to 243 runs in 20 overs. Arshad Kashif tried hard to stop the flow of runs, picking up 2 wickets but was unable to stop the destruction!
United Energy Pakistan needed an extraordinary innings to chase down the total. While some of their batsmen got off to good starts, none were able to capitalize and build on their innings. Sumair Sarwar was the most notable contributor for his side, scoring 30 runs. Nawaz Khan and Ali Ahmed bowled well for IAP, restricting runs and picking up 2 wickets each. Eventually United Energy Pakistan were outdone by a fantastic display of bowling and fell prey to scoreboard pressure. They only managed to score 159 in 20 overs.
Insurance Association of Pakistan won 84 runs
