6TH RESIDENCE CUP
Karachi Defenders clashed with Team Falcon in this low scoring fixture of the 6th Residence Cup. Batting first, Karachi Defenders had a shaky start as both openers failed to provide an ideal start. Faraz Wahid Khan came in to bat and held the innings together with his 28 runs which came off in 21 balls. He was supported by Fayyaz Anees, who played a sensible knock and saved his side from a possible collapse. Fayyaz scored 37 runs off 41 deliveries before getting out. In the end it was Asad Butt who enabled his team to reach three figures with his brave knock, he made 26 runs off 24 balls. But with no support from the other end his innings could not boost the run rate of Karachi Defenders, as they finished their innings in the last over with 115 runs on the board. Hasan Imran was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 4 wickets for 21 runs, and was supported by Amir Dungrani who got 3 for 20.
Team Falcon started their innings with a blast as both openers showed great form and technique. Muhammad Shahzad Arain and Waqar Zubair provided an ideal start to their team by scoring 49 and 44 runs respectively. After Waqar lost his wicket, Team Falcon lost 2 more batsmen and were in a pressure situation. But Muhammad Shahzad Arain along Javed, kept things simple and won the match for his team in the 16th over. Dawood Lakhani picked up 2 wickets while Saad Yousuf got one to his name. The match was won by Team Falcon by 7 wickets.
