Zamzam Sports locked horns with ZMCC in this thrilling fixture of the 15th Challengers Cup. Zamzam Sports batted first and were off to a steady start. Fida Khan and Muhammad Asif laid the foundations well and scored 24 and 35 runs respectively. The departure of openers did not halt the scoring rate as Rafiq Khatak and Bakht Gul continued to score freely. Rafiq scored 35 runs off 21 balls while Bakht gathered 25 runs off 16 balls. Unfortunately the rest of the batting order could not continue to score at a high run rate and failed to cash a good start. Afzal Qureshi was the star of the day as he picked up 6 wickets at the cost of 28 runs. Zamzam Sports set a target of 154 runs for ZMCC. Zamzam Sports lost 9 wickets in the process.
ZMCC had a decent start to their chase as Sohail Fazal and Shahid Ghayas showed signs of good form. Shahid Ghayas was the first one to go back to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs. Sohail Fazal was joined by Asad who assisted the former in creating a decent partnership. Asad scored 38 runs off 37 balls while Sohail took 36 balls to score 39 runs. The rest of the batting lineup put up a dismal show and failed to finish the game. Shahid Mukhtar was the pick of the bowlers as he got 4 wickets for 16 runs, while Rafiq Khatak took 3 wickets for 28 runs. ZMCC could score only 132 runs and lost the match by 21 runs.
