A determined Southend Champions side thrash defamed Southend Panthers in a one-sided encounter by 58 runs.
Southend Champions who batted first were off to a miserable start as they lost their first wicket only off the third ball of the match. After the disastrous start the innings was put back on the right track again with the partnership between Irfan and Badar. Irfan was the major contributor as he smashed 53 of 28 whereas Badar managed 27 of 16. The platform was set for the later order batsmen to come and smash from ball one and that’s what they did as lower down the order Ajmal and Mohsin thrashed the bowlers to every corner of the park. It was a great partnership as they contributed more than 100 runs together. Ajmal (56) and Mohsin (50) took their side to a very competitive 202.
It was a very huge chase and they wanted a blistering start to have any chance of chasing the huge total. But Champions did not allow them to dictate term as their bowlers came hard and did not give the openers much opportunity to score quickly off them. In fact, Panthers never really quiet get going as the bowlers bowled brilliantly and the bowling effort was led by Arsalan Sohail , he picked up 4 wickets which helped his side to restrict Panthers to just 144 and in the end they won easily by 58 runs.
