Southend Penguins Vs Southend Panthers
Southend WInter League
Southend Penguins batted first and were off to reasonable start, Farhad Arshad and Nadeem Iqbal looked all set for a big score as they batted well in the early stages. Fahad Arshad scored 12 of 20 balls whereas Nadeem Iqbal managed to score 48 of 64 balls. The start was good but the rest of the innings was not, as soon as the openers were dismissed, Penguins wickets fell like a house of cards, they crumbled and faltered under pressure and to the credit of Southend Panthers, they bowled and fielded well. Every bowler from Panthers chipped in and contributed to the wickets columns, Taimoor and Sheheyar picked up 2 wickets each. In the end, Penguins finished on just 145.
The chase was not the biggest and Panthers made it look ridiculously simple. Though, their start was a slow one but they knew what they were doing and it worked for them. The openers scored useful 20s and then the contributions from the middle order took them closer to victory. But indiscipline and awful bowling from Penguins helped the Panthers to seal the win. Penguins conceded 42 extras and when you are defending such low scores you cannot afford to do that and they paid for it as they lost the game quite comprehensively by 6 wickets only in 29.1 overs.
