Karachi Patriots v Vanthali Memon Association
Karachi Patriots played against Vanthali Memon Association at Old Navy Karsaz as part of the 16th Challengers Cup. Vanthali won the toss and decided to field first. Patriots were off to a good start as Tayyab R Balagamwala and Faisal butt had a 98 run opening partnership. Faisal was out for 46 runs off 30 balls. Ghazanfar Richie followed next with 13 runs and there was a late inning blitz by Usman Yunus Ghani who scored 33 runs off just 15 balls at an amazing strike rate of 220 innings including 3 sixes and 2 boundaries. Tayyab R Balagamwala was the highest scorer for Patriots as he was out in the 19th over after having scored 77 runs off 51 deliveries at a strike rate of 150%. His innings included 9 boundaries and a six. For Vanthali, Hamza and Khurrum got 2 wickets while Ibrahim and Naveed Nagda got a wicket each as Patriots ended at 185 for 6 in the designated 20 overs.
In reply, Vanthali had a blistering start as Khurram Wahab hit a quick fire 33 runs off 13 balls which included seven boundaries. However, after his departure, Uzair, Aamir and Hamza fell in quick succession and Vanthali were 81 for 4. Captain Naveed Nagda kept fighting at one end but he ran out of partners at other end and was eventually dismissed for 47 runs. Patriots bowler Sameer Ahmedani wiped out the tail with a hattrick and Vanthali were all out for just 149 runs. For Patriots, Sameer got 3 wickets while Ghazanfar Richie got 2 wickets and Aamir Motiwala, Rizwan Merchant and Rizwan Diwan got a wicket each.
Karachi Patriots won by 36 runs.
