Al- Karam Travels Vs Southend Tigers
Southend Premier League
Al-Karam Travels batted first and were off to a shaky start as they lost Shoaib Akhter quite early in the innings without much on the scoreboard. After the opening dismissal, Raja Saqlain and Irfan tried to bring some stability back in the innings as they battled for a while. They scored 29 and 12 respectively but just when they were looking set they were dismissed. After them, Daniyal Ali gave impetus to the innings and scored a very crucial and brilliant 57 off just 28 balls. He fought valiantly but he did not get much support from the other end. Afzal scored a quick 18 off 12 balls down the order to push the score to 148. Asif Siddiqui was the pick of the bowler as he picked up 3 for 30.
Southend Tigers were chasing a modest score and was hopeful of getting over the line and on the other hand, Al-Karam bowlers were also aware of the fact that they need a good beginning to create pressure and that’s what happened. Zahid Akhtar dismissed both the openers quite early in the innings and it was an early setback for Southend Tigers from which they never recovered. The top order failed miserably for Southend Tigers and they were sliding down quickly until some resistance came from the lower middle order. Maaz and Qamar brought their side back in the game and scored 30 and 35 respectively. After their dismissal, Asif played a quick cameo off 28 from 18 balls to push his side closer to victory but even after that Al-Karam Travels bowlers kept their nerve and they restricted Southend Tigers to 140 and they won by 8 runs.
