The opening match of the Memon Super League (MSL) Season 2 kicked off this past Monday with TNN Titans and Wintex Strikers going head to head.
TNN Titans batted first and had a rough run with the bat. Opener Sabih Merchant lost his wicket early on for just 9 runs but his partner Fareed took over contributing a cameo of 26. The team lost a few quick wickets before Bilal Omer and Talha Faheem stepped in to lead the recovery with knocks of 31 and 25 respectively but the team imploded after that. Outdone by a formidable display of bowling, 6 of the remaining batsmen were dismissed for in single digits as TNN Titans were 120 for 9 at the end of their innings. Imran Idrees was the key wicket taker with 3 scalps while Sameer Ahmedani chipped in with 2 wickets.
In response Wintex Strikers were off to a disastrous start with openers Tayyab and Usman being dismissed cheaply for a combined 3 runs. 1 down Rehan Hanif was also out for duck and Wintex were reeling at one stage. Talha Butt was the most notable batsmen for his side with a 36 run innings but he received no support on the other end. A late surge lower down the order by Kamran Butt and Naveed Nagda gave the chasing side some semblance of hope but the TNN bowlers were too strong. Umer Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 16 in his spell followed by Yousuf Jetpur who took 2 wickets. Shaaz, Abdul Samad and Owais Pasta took a wicket each. Wintex Strikers were limited to 111 for 9 in 20 overs.
TNN Titans won by 9 runs.
