Smashers XI batted first against Champions XI at the final of the 1st Emerging t20 Cup. The team stumbled early on in the innings with both openers being dismissed cheaply. Ali Zain however rocked the opposition with a fiery 69 that pulled his team right back in the game. He was supported on the other end by Muzammil Munaf whose 58 turned the game around boosting Smashers XI to a competitive 170 for 5 in 19 overs. Champions bowlers Fahad Nadeem and Moin Lawai picked up 2 wickets each but the runs kept flowing.
In response, lost opener Ahsan Tejani for duck and had to recover quickly. One down Suleman Aziz contributed a handy cameo of 23 before Haris Amin stepped in. He looked in good form with an impressive 53 and while a few quick wickets fell, he found support in Moin Lawai. The all rounder was on fire, also contributing 47 runs as the chasing side looked headed to victory. Muzammil Munaf however had other plans and his 3 wicket spell damaged the opposition. Haseeb Javed also took 2 wickets as Champions XI fell short of the target ending at 160 for 6 in 19 overs.
Smashers XI won by 10 runs.
