Alliance Sports batted first in their opening match of the 20th Challengers Cup against Karachi Patriots. The team however lost opener Ali and one down Talha cheaply before Raja and Abdul Rehman took charge. The pair built a solid partnership, scoring 46 and 40 runs respectively to pull their side back in the game. Patriots bowlers did well to restrict the opposition, taking wickets when needed. Adeel Abbasi lead the attack with his 3 for 24 while Asad Bashir also took 2 wickets. Ahsan Lakhani knocked a fiery 23 to boost Alliance Sports to a competitive 153 for 6 in 20 overs.
In response, Karachi Patriots started off strong with Tayyab Balagamwala's 37 and Faisal Butt's 17 setting the foundation for their side. The ever reliable Atif Ahmed kept the momentum going with his 41 runs and despite losing a few wickets, Adnan Salim's blistering 31 off 18 all but sealed a comfortable victory for their side. Alliance bowlers kept things tight on their end, picking up wickets in regular intervals but unable to stop the flow of runs. Raja Saqlain and Raza Ahmed took 2 wickets each as Karachi Patriots chased down the target in 19.1 overs.
Karachi Patriots won by 3 wickets.
