All rounder Fawad Ghafoor could do not wrong against Warriors CC at the 20th Challengers Cup.
Okhai Friends CC batted first and were off to a rocky start after losing 2 quick wickets for just 1 run. The team however recovered effortlessly after that with the help of Asim Imam and Fawad Ghafoor. Asim lead with a smashing 66 off just 31 balls while Fawad stood firm with 63 off 31 keeping his wicket intact throughout the innings. The team then lost a few quick wickets before Imran Muhammadi's blistering cameo of 22 lower down the order boosted Okhai Friends to an impressive 193 for 7 in 20 overs. Warriors CC bowlers tried to break the momentum with Shehriyar leading the attack with his 3 wickets. Umair and Affan also took 2 wickets each but they couldn't stop the flow of runs
In response, Okhai Friends CC never gave Warriors any room to chase down the target. The bowlers kept things tight and the pressure on, consistently picking up wickets. Fawad Ghafoor was having the match of his career, picking up 5 wickets for just 12 runs in his spell. Mohsin Haneef also took 2 wickets as Warriors CC were restricted to just 102 in 20 overs. Haris was the only player to show any intent with his knock of 27 runs.
Okhai Friends CC won comprehensively by 91 runs.
