Bright Gymkhana batted first against Cric Wolves in their opening match of the 20th Challengers Cup. Openers Shafaqat and Afzal got their team off to a decent start knocking 29 and 36 runs respectively. The team however lost their way after that, losing quick wickets and continuing to stumble for the rest of the innings. Zarar Khan and Mubashir Ahmed were the only other batsmen to try and fight back with cameos of 21. Wolves bowlers were in form and striking in regular intervals. Sumair Ali and Hamza Altaf were the key wicket takers picking up 3 and 2 scalps respectively. Bright Gymkhana ended at 148.
In reply, Cric Wolves lost both openers cheaply but Adnan Afridi was outstanding in his fight to save his side. He smashed 87 off 68 balls and remained and not out throughout to seal the victory for his side. Despite wickets falling on the other end, minor knocks of 14 and 17 by Sohail and Ahsan lower down the order helped Cric Wolves chase down the target in 19.3 overs. Bright bowlers tried hard to limit the opposition with Jasim Talash taking 3 wickets and Noor Shahbaz picking up a couple.
