Umar’s Fifer Sets Up Askari Win

Bowlers dominated at the opening match of the Insurance Premier League!

Batting first, Adamjee Life Insurance were ripped apart by an incredible display of bowling spearheaded by Umar Khan. After dismissing the opening pair cheaply, Umar continued to wreak havoc on the batting line up, eventually picking up 5 wickets at a brutal economy rate of just 2.25 in his spell. Wajih Nasim provided further support with 3 wickets while the rest of the unit chipped in to dismiss Adamjee for a low 75 in 12 overs.

In response, Askari Life made a complete mess of what should have been an easy chase. After losing their top order cheaply, the team continued to throw away their wickets with the exception of Umair Siddiqui who saved his side with a very valuable contribution of 19 runs. None of the other batsmen were able to even reach double digits, but it was the 15 extras that eventually helped Askari Life to victory in 17.3 overs. Umer Noor was outstanding in his spell, picking up 4 wickets and almost carving out an unlikely win for his side. Adamjee bowlers did well to restrict the opposition but needed a few more runs on the board to make it a defendable total.

Askari Life won by 2 wickets.
