Cocoon Home and Karachi Boat Club put on an show at the CAA Ground last week, in a match that became an instant classic. Karachi Boat Club managed to chase an enormous target and did so with 3 wickets still in hand.
After their opening batsmen failed to score, Cocoon Home came out swinging hard; Maaz Ismail made 42 from 20, Haider Ali Bangash smashed 59 from 40 and Noman Butt made an astounding 64 from 42, not out. They made 204 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Boat Club's bowlers were helpless against the opposition, unable to stop the flow of runs. Faraz Paracha took 2 wickets while Ahsan Khan and Abdullah Faruukh took one each.
In response, Karachi Boat Club played some brilliant cricket as they produced smashing knocks one after the other to successfully chase the target in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Atif Ahmed made 16 from 14, Muhammad Arshad made 36 from 27 while Farhan Shah made 50 from 28. Yasir Farooqui was brilliant as he smashed 54 from just 18 balls followed by 15 from 6 by Arham Latif. Kamran Butt took 4massive wickets while Rana Aijaz took two and Umer Farooq took one but it was in vain as Boat Club scrambled to victory.
