What a match between Saeed Akthar CC and Nadeem Sports this past Sunday at Asghar Ali Shah.
SACC batted first and stumbled early on after losing both openers cheaply. Haseeb and Abdul Rahim then teamed up to try and stabilize the innings. Haseeb contributed 30 while the real star was Rahim's responsible 72 off 45 which included 3 boundaries and 5 sixes; he remained not out. The team continued to lose wickets after that with Nadeem Sports bowlers picking wickets consistently. Hammad and Arif took 2 wickets each for their as SACC ended at 166 for 7 in 20 overs.
In response, the 2nd innings was a cracker! Determined opener Shahid Mirani was in form and on fire with a valuable 53 off 36 at the top. The team however continued to lose wickets on the other end. Asif Izhar and Waseem Ali then stepped in with cameos of 26 and 38 respectively and despite the side losing a flurry of quick wickets, the scoreboard seemed to be ticking along. Unfortunately, too many wickets and a last minute run out caused Nadeem Sports to fall short by just 1 run! Heartbreak after an impressive fight. SACC bowlers did well to secure the victory and kept making the breakthroughs when needed. Naeem Khan took 4 wickets while Anas Waheed picked up a couple and the rest of the unit chipped away.
SACC won by 1 run.
