Islamabad Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first at the opening match of the KheloKhavateen tournament at Marghzar Cricket Ground Islamabad.
Batting first, the lost their opener Aima Saleem for 9 and continued to lose wickets after that with the exception of Fajar Naveed who stepped up to save her side. She scored an impressive 22 off 21 including 4 boundaries. The rest of the team could not contribute significantly but with the 14 extras given, Islamabad Strikers reached 76 for 4 in 10 overs. Blues bowler Hina Shafiq was the key wicket taker for her side with 2 scalps while Komal and Anoshaye picked up a wicket each.
In response, Shalimar Blue lost opener Saleha for duck and struggled after that. Sughra and Saba tried to save their side with knocks of 11 and 15 respectively but could not get the momentum going at any stage. Strikers bowler Hamna Bilal was on fire, picking up 3 wickets and assisting a run out! Blues batsmen were out of sorts with only Sakeena Bibi fighting back with 13 runs. Samina Bilal and Fatima Shah picked up 2 wickets each and Naila Nazir took 1 wicket to restrict Shalimar Blue to 65 for 9 in 10 overs.
Islamabad Strikers won by 11 runs.
