Hamid Ismail Tape Ball Recap: Day 1

Young Blasters batted first against ZAQS XI in the inaugural match of Hamid Ismail Tape-Ball Cricket Tournament 2019. Each side in the tournament consists of 9 players and gets 6 overs per innings.

Young blasters had a shaky start as they lost an early wicket but it was Muavia from their side who took the charge and smashed a brilliant, unbeatable 68 runs. It was all due to his marvelous innings that Blasters set a huge total of 90 runs on the scoreboard. Bilal and Hamza from ZAQS XI picked up 1 wicket each. Salman from ZAQS XI showed some resilience as he made 48 runs but he consumed more deliveries than required for it and none of his other teammates were up for a competition which resulted in ZAQS XI being restricted for 77 runs. Owais, Imran, and Fahad bagged a wicket each. Young Blasters won the opening match by 13 runs.

 

In the 2nd match, Sheraz Sports batted first against Zubairi Sports. Sheraz Sports’ batting line was too puny to stand 6 overs on the wicket and got all out for 39 runs in 4.2 overs. Daniyal and Arshad were the only batsmen scoring double figures who made 13 and 11 runs respectively. Huzaifa from Zubairi Sports claimed 3 wickets while Sattar and Faisal bagged 2 wickets each. Zubairi Sports in their turn easily paced towards their target and got the job done in 4 overs. Saad was the highest-scorer contributing 19 runs to his team total. Jawad and Atif from Sheraz Sports took 1 wicket each. Zubairi Sports won the match by 8 wickets.

In the eventful third match, Ibrahim Sports batted first against Pak Shaheen. Openers Irfan and Abrar laid the foundation of their team’s victory and made a substantial partnership. They scored 39 and 50 runs respectively to set a daunting target of 100 runs in 6 overs for the opponents. Hamza was the only wicket-taker from Pak Shaheen scoring 2 wickets. Pak Shaheen in reply trembled at the start as they lost their opener Zeeshan. They then tried to show some resilience as Usman and Behram scored some quick 27 and 23 runs respectively but were unable to compensate for what their bowlers did in the first innings. Ahsan and Bilal’s timely 2 wickets each from Ibrahim Sports helped them to limit Pak Shaheen for 75 runs. Ibrahim Sports sealed the victory by 24 runs.

In the 4th match, Afsar Sports batted first against Y.S Sports. The batsmen of Afsar Sports put a quite good-looking total on the scoreboard. Junaid and Kaleem Ullah played a quick innings of 20 and 22 runs respectively while Faizan also contributed through his 18 runs to the batting side’s total of 77 runs. Zohaib’s 3 timely wickets from Y.S sports restricted the opponents from causing any further destruction. Y.S Sports openers Subhan and Usama seemed to be in a great form and retaliated-back strongly. They didn’t let the bowlers have a single chance and played a 31 runs innings each to drive their team through victory in just 4 overs. Nobody from Afsar Sports claimed a wicket. Y.S Sports won by 10 wickets.
