Sugar Shack and Mavericks Stars Cricket Club went against each other on 25th September at the 41st Challengers Corporate Cup.
Shah Hussain and Ali Naqi opened the innings for Shack and scored 12 and 27 runs respectively. The batting efforts were sloppy, as the one-down batter, Yashfeen Haider, lost his wicket on a duck. The bowlers dominated with Naimat Bilal Afridi, Fahad Jilani and Muhammad Sufiyan bagging 2 wickets each. However, Sohail Khan stabilised the innings in the middle overs. He knocked 58 runs off 30 balls at a strike rate of 193.33. Hence, the team was led to a total score of 156 runs.
Mustafa Mazhar and Farhan Shah opened the innings for Stars. Mustafa was successful in scoring 43 off 34, hitting 3 boundaries. The batters fell to the bowlers tactics and continued losing wickets early. The bowlers successfully captured 5 wickets, with Shah Hussain and Faiz Ahmed bagging 2 wickets each. None of the batters, other than Mustafa were able to make a significant contribution. They were unable to cope the pressure and fell short of 5 runs only.
Hence, Shack restricted Stars to a score of 151 runs in 20 overs. As a result, Shack emerged as winners by 5 runs only.
