Takaful Pakistan Limited went head to head against Aga Khan University Faculty and Staff at the grand final of the 42nd Challengers Corporate Cup.
Batting first, Takaful Pakistan were outstanding with the bat, posting a mammoth target of 206 in 20 overs. Hammad Mughal was the leading run scorer for his side with a sensational 99 but was unlucky to be dismissed before scoring his century. Dawood kept the momentum going with his valuable 56 off 36 with Aga Khan’s bowlers being smacked to all sides of the park. Javed Baig tried to fight back, taking 2 wickets in his spell but the damage had been done.
In response, despite Sunil Mantoo’s 45 runs at the top, none of the other batters were able to effectively contribute in the chase. The team continued to lose wickets in quick succession as Takaful bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings. Taimoor Usmani lead the bowling attack with a brilliant fifer while Habib Ullah Khan took 4 wickets to clean up the opposition for just 116 runs in 16.5 overs.
Takaful Pakistan won by 90 runs and were crowned champions.
