Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana v IAL Smashers
A thrilling encounter took place between Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana and IAL Smashers at Al Mansoora Cricket Ground this past Sunday. NHGK batted first but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Farrukh Rizvi then stepped in to lead the recovery with a valuabe knock off 42 runs off 28 balls. Cameos by Hussain Abbas with 26 and Talha with 20 ensured they ended at 145 for 8 in 20 overs. M. Yousuf got 3 wickets, Rizwan got 2 while Faizan, Zahoor and Ali got a wicket each.
The score was respectable but many a game on this ground has seen teams scoring in excess of 200 runs so it seemed a tough ask for NHGK to defend this low score on their home ground. However, their bowlers were determined and put in an excellent effort in what turned out to be a nail biting contest. They restricted IAL Smashers to 144 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. IAL smashers had lost their top 4 batsmen very cheaply but Rizwan with 47 not out, Rehan with 41 and Adeel with 30 undertook the recovery efforts and brought their team close but were unlucky to lose by just 1 run. For NHGK, Atif was the star of the bowling line up with 3 wickets while Usman and Abbas got 2 wickets each and Faisal got a wicket.
