Shalimar Cricket Academy Red won the toss and batted first against Islamabad Thunders at the Afsaneh presents KheloKhavateen tournament with KheloKricket and Multan Sultans.
Reds were off to a rocky start after losing opener Aneeqa for just 1 run. Beenish Ali however was the stand out star for their side with 26 runs off 27 balls remained not out throughout her innings. The rest of the team simply could not keep their wickets intact or the scoreboard ticking and ended at 59 for 4 in 10 overs. Thunders bowlers did well to keep the pressure on with Afza Hussain, Rida Aslam and Farzana Fatima picking up a wicket each.
In response, Thunders Captain Afza Hussain played a captain’s knock, scoring a very valuable 26 off 25 including 3 boundaries. Her partner Nabeeha also chipped in with 9 runs and eventually Zahra Hussain’s easy 15 off 19 saw their side to victory. Reds bowlers did well to try and get some breakthroughs in the middle with 2 run outs and a wicket by Jahanzaib but were unable to defend their team’s total. Thunders chased down the target in 9.1 overs.
Islamabad Thunders won by 7 wickets.
