Alpha CC clashed with SKY Hawks in the 24th Challengers Cup, claiming victory over them in a closely matched game.
Alpha CC came out to bat first and immediately lost both openers, who went back without scoring a single run. After this chaotic opening, the middle order found a way to claw back into the game with Adeel Abid and Hasan Mehmood bringing about some balance to the innings. Abid’s top score of 47 off 33 balls was the highlight of Alpha CC’s innings, alongside some smaller contributions from Syed Inam and Raheel Abdul. The bowlers maintained a decent economy rate as Sanaullah claimed 3 wickets to derail the lower order and bowl out the opposition. The innings ended with Alpha CC having posted a target of 135 for the Hawks to chase.
Hawks’ response with the bat started off quite steadily with opener Muhammad Yasir steering the ship. A flurry of wickets, however, sidetracked the chasing team forcing them into a defensive mode. Kashif Kobra’s 24 off 32 deliveries significantly deterred proceedings for the batting team as the required run rate kept climbing. Yousaf Halari’s 3 wickets at this time proved to be crucial as the pressure of the run rate finally got to the batting side. The Hawks ultimately folded over for 128 with 4 balls to spare.
Alpha CC managed to pull off a victory over the SKY Hawks by 6 runs.
