Asad and Ammar Save Karachi All-Stars

Karachi Hawks batted first against Karachi All-Stars and had a fair start. Qasim got dismissed after scoring 19 runs while the other opener Idrees Durrani played a responsible knock and scored a fifty. But soon after that the batting line-up started to fall down like autumn leaves. No one from the middle and lower-order entered into the double figures except Agha Chao who made 17 runs. All-Stars bowlers did a tremendous job and not only bowled economically but managed to dismiss the whole batting line-up before 20 overs. Sumair and Ammar picked up 4 wickets each. The bowling unit limited the opponents to 120 runs in 19 overs.

Hawks bowlers made an excellent initial comeback and dismissed both the openers for duck. The next two batsmen got out for just 5 and 3 runs. At that stage, the match became evenly balanced and Hawks had an equal chance of winning. But it was Ammar and Asad’s  substantial partnership which did it for All-Stars. Asad Mehdi scored 48 while Ammar Altaf scored a much needed fifty. Both the batsmen remained unbeaten. Hawks bowlers gave a tough competition to the opponents but they failed to cover up their batsmen’s dereliction. Saqib took 2 wickets and Rizwan picked up 1 wicket. All-Stars chased the target of 121 in 17.4 overs.

All-Stars won by 7 wickets.
