The final of the 21st Super Challengers Cup turned into a run-fest between Bilal Associates and Saeed Akhter Cricket Club.
Bilal Associates' batsmen took to the crease first. Openers Shahid Mirani and Zeeshan Haider took apart the opposition's bowlers, as they struck the ball at around 250. Mirani scored 56 off 21 and Zeeshan posted 64 off 26 balls. Both batsmen hit five sixes each in a display of controlled power hitting. The fall of wickets did not curtail the run flow as Hamza Qadir continued to hit the ball out of the park at No. 4. He top-scored for his team with 66 from 34 deliveries, smashing 6 sixes in the process. SACC bowlers seemed out of ideas as the Bilal Associates batsmen had a field day with the bat. They managed a mammoth 244 at the end of their 20 overs.
Under the scoreboard pressure of a gigantic target, SACC came out firing in the second innings. Opener Bilal Aslam maintained a strike rate of over 200, before falling just one short of a crisp half century. Nadeem Alam's 3 wickets at the top derailed the chase somewhat, following by a faltering of the middle order. Jamal Amir Khan at No. 6 tried to salvage the final for his team with 43 quick runs, but the chasing side kept losing wickets at crucial stages. In the end, the target proved to be out of reach as SACC failed to keep up with the required run rate. Their innings closed at 206 runs.
Bilal Associates won the match by 38 runs, taking home the tournament's final honors.
