Bank Al Habib batted first against Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan at the 1st Bankers Challengers Corporate League final this past Saturday. Bank Al Habib’s openers seemed to start off okay with Shahid and Zakir scoring 14 and 18 runs respectively. The team however seemed to lose wickets too frequently and with the exception of Wasim Hanif’s 39 run knock, none of the other batters were able to effectively contribute. Dubai Islamic bowlers did well to restrict the opposition with Misbah and Nasir taking 3 wickets each. Bank Al Habib ended at 108 for 9 in 20 overs.
In response, what should have been a fairly easy target turned out to be a disaster for the chasing side. Dubai Islamic’s batters were in shambles, losing wickets throughout, unable to give themselves a real chance at winning. Al Habib’s bowlers were in fine form with Zakir Malik, Farhan Nisar and Wasim Hanif taking 2 wickets each. Dubai Islamic Bank were dismissed for 84 runs in 19 overs.
Bank Al Habib won by 24 runs and were crowned champions.
