Benitoz Panthers batted first against Muslim Gymkhana in the first play off of the Al Wakeel Cricket League Season 2. Opener Tabish Raza was in form and on fire knocking an impressive 50 off just 34 balls to get his team off to a dream start. Hamza Qadir further propelled his side with 54 runs along with Hasan Mehmood whose 36 set the Panthers on course for a mammoth total. Mohib Ahsan also knocked an explosive 31 lower down the order which boosted Benitoz Panthers to 217 for 7 in 20 overs. Muslim Gymkhana's bowlers were unable to control the flow of runs but Naveed and Ahmed were key in picking up 2 wickets each.
With scoreboard pressure imminent from the first ball, Muslim Gymkhana needed nerves of steel and an extraordinary innings to chase down this target. Hamza Qadir however was having the match of his life taking 4 wickets for just 23 runs to take his side straight through to the final. With the exception of Mirza Shoaib who knocked 48 and Ali Bantva's 39, Gymkhana's batsmen were unable to keep their wickets intact and get their side over the line. Waseem Ali also took 2 wickets as Muslim Gymkhana were bowled out for 190 in 19.5 overs.
Benitoz Panthers won by 27 runs and are through to the finals.
