Up against the Shaikhani Fighters in CPL Season 2, Chippa Strikers lit up the stage with their batting display.
Chippa Strikers batted in the first innings and completely demolished the opposition's bowlers. Openers Bilal Aslam and Shahzaib Dyer struck the ball all around the park. Aslam scored a blazing 86 from 35 deliveries, striking incredibly at over 245. His 13 fours and 4 sixes allowed Dyer to hold up the other end steadily with his 39 from 28. Their efforts were well-matched by the top middle order, which carried the team to the end of the innings with two destructive half centuries. Despite throwing a combination of seven bowlers at the Strikers, Shaikhani bowlers seemed to have no answers to the batting onslaught. They conceded a mammoth total of 250.
With a required run rate of 12.5, Shaikhani Fighters faced an uphill battle in their chase in the second innings. They lost one of their openers for a golden duck, making the task even more difficult. Fayyaz Hussain tried to get the board ticking with his 40 runs from 21 balls, but he did not receive adequate support at the other end. The entire batting display featured just three double-figure scores, which did not prove nearly enough for the Fighters. Chippa Strikers bowled in a disciplined manner, rolling over the opposition for 129 in 16 overs.
After a dominating all-round display, Chippa Strikers claimed victory by an emphatic 121 runs.
