Eagles win in last over to book spot in final

Eagles Cricket Club took on Karachi Stallions in the semi final of the 4th Residence Cup.

Stallions batted first and openers Adnan and Samad rose to the occasion with a solid opening stand. Samad (22) got out after the introduction of Cavish into the attack but Adnan battled on hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes to score 63 off 46 balls. Owais Gigi kept the momentum going with 29 off 20 but lost partners at regular intervals thanks to a lovely comback spell by Umer Chawla who bagged three wickets to eventually end the Stallion innings at 145 for 7 in 20 overs.

Runs on the board in a high pressure match meant the teams were at par at the half way stage and the funny game of cricket could still produce a surprise or two. And that is exactly what we got. Rehan Nazim started with confusion which caused his partner to return to the dug out without facing a ball. Rehan(48) however got together with Asad(35) and the two seemed to be leading the Eagles to a comfortable win. But some disciplined bowling with Saad picking up 3 wickets and Hassan 2, led the Stallions back into the match and the contest was for anyone to take. The responsibility of bowling the last over was handed to Adnan who could not defend, as Eagles hit the winning runs on the second last ball of the match to win an absolute cliff hanger and booked their place in the final where Karachi Patriots are waiting for them.
