However, the highlight of the innings was Ejaz Shah’s explosive 105 off just 45 balls. Shah’s innings was a masterclass in power-hitting, featuring 7 boundaries and 9 towering sixes. His aggressive approach put the Gulberg Gymkhana bowlers under immense pressure, and his ability to find the gaps and clear the ropes was crucial in setting a formidable total. Shah’s century was instrumental in MCC’s commanding total of 244/6. Mohammad Zohaib Idrees also chipped in with a quickfire 28 off 13. Talha Bin Haider was the standout bowler for Gulberg Gymkhana, taking 3 wickets.
In response, Gulberg Gymkhana lost 3 early wickets, making the chase challenging. Farukh Rizvi provided a glimmer of hope with a well-crafted 67 off 39 balls. Farhan Asif added 38 off 22, while Muhammad Ahsan Zafar contributed 23 off 10. Lower down the order, Talha Bin Haider with 21 off 11 and Hassan Qazi with 20 off 8 added some quick runs, but it wasn’t enough. Muhammad Anas Waheed and Salman Hussain picked up 2 wickets each for MCC.
