Faysal Bank emerged victorious in the thrilling grand final of the Bankers Cup, defeating Dubai Islamic Bank by 20 runs.
Faysal Bank faced an early setback, losing a wicket quickly. However, opener Muhammad Nabeel Khalid anchored the innings with a brilliant 69 off 45 balls, supported by Muhammad Afzal’s solid 53 off 36. A late flourish by Ali Butt, who smashed an unbeaten 22 off just 8 deliveries, pushed the total to a competitive 190/8. Dubai Islamic Bank’s Sohail Khan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets, while Rehman Ghani chipped in with 2.
Chasing 191, Dubai Islamic Bank also suffered an early blow but found stability through opener M Anas Javed’s 56 off 45 balls. Middle-order contributions from Haider Ali Bangash’s 32 off 15 and Fareed Shah Arbab’s 34 off 23 kept them in the hunt. However, the rest of the lineup crumbled under pressure, with Rizwan Ullah taking 3 wickets and Ali Butt adding 2 more to his all-round performance. Dubai Islamic Bank were bowled out for 170 in 19.3 overs.
