In a Group C fixture of the 17th Challengers Cup, played at the TMC Ground, Friends XI took on the Karachi Caveliers, in a match that saw the latter winning easily.
Batting first, Karachi Caveliers took off in a hesitant manner, with wickets falling in quick succession. However, the middle order stabilized the innings with Tariq Shakhini (21 runs) and Shoaib Shambria (25 runs) being the main contributors. For the Friends XI, Khurram Ahmed shone with the ball, picking up 4 wickets for 19 runs, in his allotted quota of 4 overs. Faheem also took 2 wickets for 16 runs. At the end of the innings, Karachi Caveliers finished at 109 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
Friends XI, chasing just 110 runs, at 5.5 runs an over, took off right from the word go with opener Zohaib Ahmed being the main run scorer. His 33 ball knock of 41 runs included 6 fours and 1 colossal six. The Karachi Caveliers fought back into the game, with strike bowler Obaid Ghazi finishing with sublime figures of 4 overs, 19 runs and 3 wickets. However, Wali Ul Hasan ended the game with a solid 23 runs, which included 4 boundaries.
Friends XI won the match by 5 wickets.
