In another Group C fixture of the 17th Challengers Cup, played at the Asifabad Ground, Karachi Demons faced the Friends XI, in what turned out to be a low scoring thriller.
Batting first, Friends XI were off to a hesitant start with none of the top 3 batsmen scoring big. However, Wali Ul Hasan and Muhammad Asher rebuilt the innings, with valuable knocks of 31 and 21 respectively, sharing 7 boundaries and a six between them. However, the Demons bowled well to restrict them to just 122 runs. Shayan and Yasir Fazli were the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets each.
The Karachi demons were off to a decent start with both openers scoring 11 runs each. However, the Friends XI kept picking up wickets at crucial intervals, to keep the pressure on their opponents. Yasir Fazli continued his good form with the bat, to score 30 runs. However, the Demons fell just short of their target, scoring 116 runs in the allotted 20 overs, with Faheem and Haris Iqbal taking 2 wickets each, for 14 and 17 runs respectively, in their quota of 4 overs.
Friends XI won the match by a mere 6 runs.
