The matchup between Gulshan Fighters and Gulshan Becks was a thrilling encounter. The clash between the two sides resulted in some decent stroke play, intelligent bowling and energetic fielding. In the first innings Gulshan Fighters were off to a shaky start as their opening stand could not fulfil their expectations. But after the first wicket Hafiz and Junaid steadied the ship and their partnership made the Fighters hopeful for a competitive total. Hafiz scored 33 runs with a six and a four whereas Junaid’s knock of 34 runs included 3 huge sixes. Azhar was the top scorer of the innings as he showed his class with the bat. He took only 16 deliveries to score 28 runs with a strike rate of 237.5. He hit 3 maximums and 2 fours. Atif’s bowling figures of 2 for 31 could not stop Gulshan Fighters from scoring 165 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and the end of 20 overs.
Chasing a score always comes with an added pressure and that pressure was evident in Gulshan Becks’ run chase. Despite of a healthy start with openers Kamran Ahemed and Jibran Sufi scoring 30 off 17 and 30 of 36 respectively. The rest of the lot failed to keep up with the required run rate. Ali Manzar’s excellent effort of 45 runs in 35 balls was not enough to sail his side home. Farrukh claimed 2 wickets while Akbar and Azhar got 1 wicket each. Gulshan Becks lost the game as their run chase ended with the score 158 for 4 at the end of 20 overs.
