ZMCC batted first against Karachi Patriots in an all important Quarter Final of 18th Challengers Cup. ZMCC opener Haider Ali Bangash was the highlight of the whole match. He brutally destroyed the opposition and hammered each and every bowler from there. Haider smashed the ball all across the park many times and played an astounding knock of 145 runs with an apocalyptical strike rate of 204 and remained unbeaten. Syed Ali Nasim also added some fuel to the fire and scored 26 runs. Due to such resplendent innings played by the opener Haider, ZMCC managed to decorate the scoreboard with a humongous score of 230 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Karachi Patriots bowlers were not only bad with picking up the right area to bowl but they also struggled with their line and length as they bowled 19 wide deliveries. This is where things went wrong for them. Ghanzanfer was the only wicket taking bowler from patriots picking up 2 wickets.
Karachi Patriots in their turn tried their best to fight back. They tried to play fast in the chase of such a big target to gain any momentum but lost their wickets too in doing so. Aamir Motiwala’s 62 and Adeel Abbasi’s 35 helped patriots to cross the landmark of 200 but they did not manage to cross ZMCC’s score. Shoaib Ibrahim’s 3 wickets and Zarrar, Nasim and Umair’s 2 wickets each ripped through the batting line-up and bowled them out for 207 runs in 18.4 overs.
ZMCC won by 23 runs and qualified for the semi-finals.
