Karachi Stallions v Karachi Defenders
Karachi Stallions and Defenders played as part of the 7Th residence Cup at Hill Park cricket ground. Stallions batted first and lost opener Hannan for a duck. However, after the early setback, Stallions captain Samad Ghani played a responsible knock and scored 57 runs off just 41 balls at a strike rate of 139% and was assisted by Shahzad Gulloo who got 23 runs and Ahmed who got 26 runs. A late inning blitz of 26 runs off at a strike rate of 200% by Usman Yunus Ghani ensured Stallions ended at a competitive 159 for 6 in 20 overs. For Defenders, Sumair got 3 wickets while Saud, Naveed Nagda and Hamza got a wicket each.
In reply, Defenders lost their in-form opener Faraz early as he only got 4 runs. Qasim with 34 and Wasik with 37 stabilized the innings and Yousuf with 26 brought them close to the target. With more than 10 runs an over needed in the last two overs, Hamza played an extra ordinary knock of 19 runs off just 7 balls not out at a strike rate of 271% and ensured his team won with 3 balls to spare. For Stallions, Ubaid, Zeeshan, Asad and Hassan got a wicket each and 3 wickets were taken by Saad Dawood, a good effort but unfortunately in a lost cause.
Defenders won by 3 wickets.
