Ten Pearls faced Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP) as part of the 10th Challengers Corporate Cup this past Saturday at Al Mansoora. IAP batted first and were off to relatively decent start with opener Rameez Mehboob posting 22 at the top. The team were unable to build an innings, throwing away some good starts, the momentum constantly swinging between both teams. Aamir Abbas with 24 and Ahmed Nawaz with 40 however provided some stability to the side and helped propel the team's total. A late surge of 22 not out by Nadeem Baig boosted IAP to 145 for 8 in 20 overs. Ten Pearls bowlers did well to try and limit the opposition, picking up wickets when required to stop the flow of runs. Asadullah, Mudassir and Zohair were the key wicket takers with 2 scalps each.
In response, Ten Pearls lost opener Faiz for 3 and things continued to get worse after that. The team lost a series of quick wickets with none of the batsmen able to keep their wickets intact and the scoreboard ticking. Sheraz and Faaz Ullah were the only players who showed some intent with scores of 29 and 24 respectively. None of the other batsmen were able to perform on the day and IAP bowlers continued to pick at the opposition. Muhammad Iqbal and Umer Noor took 2 wickets each as Ten Pearls were restricted to 115 for 8 in 20 overs.
IAP won by 30 runs.
