The final of the 9th Challengers Corporate Cup was held at Karachi Gymkhana between Karachi Gymkhana and JS Bank in which JS Bank batted first. The batting team had a low start and both their openers returned to the pavilion very soon. But it was their solid and impenetrable middle order which laid the foundation of the victory. One down Noman Ikram played a sensible and mature knock of 45 runs along with the second down Sahir Abdul Hadi who scored 28 runs making way for the next batsmen to play all across the park. Asim Khan then beautifully continued the execution of the plan and smashed the bowlers with his brutal 45 runs at a wondrous strike rate of 265. Sheikh Fahad’s 30 runs with some good pace in the concluding overs took the scoreboard to 169 for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Karachi Gymkhana bowlers though picking up wickets leaked so much runs. Shaaz Shajani was the highest wicket taker picking up 4 wickets.
The bowlers of JS Bank continued to hammer the opposition from where their batsmen had left. They didn’t give a single chance to the batting side and sealed the victory with ease and grace. Jam Saifullah and Tariq Murad were the key bowlers in destroying the batting side and picked up 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Though the opener Farhan Asif showed some resistance and scored 35 runs, there was no support by his fellow teammates from the other end. Nine of the batsmen of Karachi Gymkhana didn’t even bother to get into the double figures. The batting side got bowled out for just 86 runs in 15.2 overs.
JS Bank won by 83 runs and were crowned champions.
