Jubilee Life Insurance defeated Takaful Pakistan Limited in a match held on Saturday to become the champions of the 31st Challengers Corporate Cup.
Takaful Pakistan Limited batted first and lost one of their openers for a golden duck. However, fellow opener Hammaz Mughal scored 22 off 15 balls while one-down batsman Shehroz Haider made 14 off 9 balls. Despite their efforts, the middle order failed to perform and got out for low scores. Umair Ali played a composed innings of 40 off 38 balls to help his team post a score of 122 runs. Jubilee’s Fasih Hassan bagged 3 wickets while Muhammad Hunain and Muhammad Sumair took 2 wickets each. The bowling attack put pressure on the batsmen and restricted them to a low total.
Although Jubilee lost one of their batsmen early on in the innings, opener Ibad Anis smashed a brilliant 49 off 33 balls, including 7 boundaries. Asim Farooq contributed 14 runs to the total. Zohaib Rizwan’s 21 not out off 15 balls along with Syed Raghib Moin’s 23 off 21 balls helped stabilize the team, making their chase smooth and easy. They took the team over the line to victory, establishing themselves as champions. Takaful’s bowlers were weak in the face of the batsmen and could not take wickets at crucial times.
Jubilee Life Insurance won the final by 5 wickets.
