The opening match of the Pakistan Cables 24th Challengers Corporate Cup took place between Karachi Club and Pak-Qatar Takaful with Karachi Club batting first.
KC lost their opener Khurram Wahab and one down Talha Ahmedani cheaply with the side never really taking off throughout the innings. Rameez Mehboob tried to stabilize things with a cameo of 27 runs while Faraz Ahmed's 19 and Shehzad Suleman's 24 pushed Karachi Club to a respectable 131 for 7 in 20 overs. Pak Qatar's bowlers kept things tight with Ashar Qureshi and Atif Mumtaz taking 3 wickets each.
In response, Pak Qatar made a complete mess of the chase. Their top 7 batsmen threw away their wickets cheaply with only Shayan Rasheed and in-form Atif Mumtaz trying to save their side with 14 and 25 respectively. Zakir also chipped in with 14 runs but the side fell short, ending at 80 for 8 in 20 overs. Khurram Wahab was the key wicket taker with 3 scalps while the rest of KC's bowlers did well to pick wickets and contain the opposition.
Karachi Club won by 51 runs.
