The final of the Bold presents 1st KheloKricket Amateur League was held this past Saturday at Karachi Gymkhana with Extras and KG Ball Busters going head to head.
KG Ball Busters batted first with Abbas Walika being bamzooled for duck by an exquisite piece of bowling by Sufiyan Arshad. The team however recovered fairly well after that with Azhar Khan's 41 and a valuable half century knock by Ghazanfar Ritchie with 58. Jam Nafees also knocked 35 to help KG Ball Busters reach a competitive 169 for 5 in 20 overs. Sufiyan was the key wicket taker for Extras with 2 scalps while Shoaib Ali and Ammar Zaidi took a wicket each.
In response, the second innings was a complete shocker with an unexpected twist of events. Extras seemed to be headed towards a comfortable victory with Jibrail Khan's sensational 71 off 45 paving the way at the top. Atif Ahmed provided him support with a handy 37 but the team then crumbled after that. Tayyab Yousuf's 3 wickets and the pressure of the final had Extras middle order choking as the runs simply could not flow. KG's bowlers did well to pull back the opposition and eventually restricted them to 158 for 6 in 20 overs.
KG Ball Busters won by 11 runs.
