KPS v Southend Stallions
The Southend Champions League final was held between KPS and Southend Stallions at the club ground. KPS batted first and opener Rehan Khan was out after scoring just 1 run. Hayatullah with 11 and Zameer with 19 runs provided some stability before Saleem Khan got 40 off 26 to get the scoreboard moving but the subsequent batsmen put up a disappointing performance as only Noor Bahadur got 12 runs and the whole team was all out for just 129 runs without playing the full quota of 20 overs. For Stallions, Ammar Mir was outstanding in his 5 wicket haul for just 29 runs while Fareed took 2 wickets and Asim Jah and Waheed got a wicket each and there was 1 run out in the innings.
In reply, KPS bowlers made up for the dismal batting performance by bowling some excellent line and length, taking wickets at regular intervals. Great fighting spirit was displayed by KPS bowlers and fielders as they continued to levy pressure on the Stallions batsmen. Only Sameer with 34 and Ibrar with 26 runs could get into double figures as the whole team was bundled out for just 103 runs and failed to cope with the pressure of the high intensity match. For KPS, Fareed Khan bowled a deadly spell of 3 wickets for just 9 runs while Rehan got 2 wickets and Salim, Zameer and Noor picked up a wicket each.
A thrilling encounter which ended with KPS emerging as the Champions by 27 runs.
