PRL and Thal Engineering came face to face in the 4th Toyota Cup.
PRL batted first and witnessed a disappointing start as Mirza was bowled for 0. Following his performance, Farooq(13) and Sajjad(9) also surrendered cheaply. The former being run out and the latter being caught out. While the game seemed to be regressing for PRL, it really motored when Mehmood came to the wicket. He picked up singles steadily and consistently and turned the game around, making a commendable century. PRL's fate was also ameliorated by the careful execution of Muhammad who made 60 runs. The pressure created by Shaoib who promptly picked up two wickets could not be maintained by the other bowlers and this allowed PRL to achieve a grand total of 190 for the loss of three wickets.
The second innings presented a riveting start. Thal Engineering came to bat and Adeel managed a solid score of 74 runs. He was followed by Shezad, who gathered 17 runs. However, this headway into the match was not utilized by Thal efficiently. While Sabir(10), Akhtar(23) and Shahab Uddin (13) did contribute to the team score, lack of an organized batting attack was detrimental to Thal. On the flip side, the bowling attack for PRL was forceful. There were phenomenal performances by Saeed who picked up two wickets and Sajjad who picked up three wickets, as well as by Babar and Muhammad who picked up one wicket each. PRL enjoyed a resounding victory by 26 runs.
