National Foods' batsmen stole the show in their match-up against Bayer Pakistan in the Magnus Sports 31st Challengers Corporate Cup.
Bayer Pakistan were put in to bat first. A highly disciplined bowling performance ensured that Bayer's batsmen could not get their feet on the ground at any stage in the middle. The batting line up did not look like accelerating as National Foods bowled economically. Towards the end, Athar Hashmi came in at No. 8 and provided an inspired flourish to an otherwise dreary batting effort. His 42 runs from just 19 deliveries put 139 on the board, giving Bayer Pakistan's bowlers something relatively stable to defend.
National Foods' batsmen came out firing on all cylinders in the second innings. Despite an early wicket, top order batsmen Arif Khan and Ali Nasir put together a splendid partnership. Arif scored 61 from 33 and his partner earned a half century of his own from 30 balls. The two batsmen took Bayer's bowlers to the cleaners, chasing down the target in just 12.1 overs.
National Foods won the game with 8 wickets to spare.
