NAZEER HUSSAIN GYMKHANA vs ZMCC
15th CHALLENGERS CUP
The 15th Challengers Cup kicked off in the Al-Mansoora Cricket Ground where two exciting lineups challenged for a win in the inaugural match. Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana batted first and were off to a dismal start as the first batsman fell for a duck. Other top order batsmen could not perform the remedial work as per the requirements and lost their wickets. Things were not looking good for Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana until Muhammad Ahsan Zafar and Hassan Qazi produced a superb partnership. Ahsan scored 66 runs off 49 balls while Hassan Qazi got 44 runs off 37 balls. Zeeshan Momia bowled well as he took 3 wickets for just 16 runs. Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana posted 148 runs for the loss of 7 wickets after 20 overs.
ZMCC started their chase in a shaky manner. The top order failed to provide an ideal start and make things easy for the rest of the batting lot. Afzal Qureshi was the only batsman who contributed well enough, to put his team back on track. He scored 40 runs off 52 balls while Mubasshir Ahmed and Shoaib Ibrahim scored 24 and 25 runs respectively. But as the rest of the batting lot failed to contribute courtesy some exceptional bowling by Usman Ghani. Usman bagged 4 wickets for just 13 runs. ZMCC scored only 124 runs before they were all out on the second last ball of the innings. The match was won by Nazeer Hussain Gymkhana by 24 runs.
