Samba Bank Emerged Victorious

SAMBA BANK vs DGS KNIGHTS (20 OVER MATCH)

In this encounter between Samba Bank and DGS Knights, batsmen enjoyed their dominance. A decent total was posted on the board and later the same score was chased easily.

When batting first in a twenty over game you do want your openers to take off well. Unfortunately DGS Knights did not achieve an ideal start and lost an opener before he could trouble the scorers. Samba Bank could have damaged the Knights’ batting line up after taking an early wicket, but Umair Hashmi and Kashif had other plans. Umair Hashmi’s quick fire 39 off 26 shifted the momentum back and Kashif kept on batting sensibly on the other end. After Umair was cleaned up by Yousuf who took a total of 3 wickets in the game, Ali Anum joined the party. He went on to score a solid knock of 42 runs in just 20 balls. At the other end Kashif kept on holding the innings together, he played a steady and calm innings of 62 runs which came off in 60 balls. At the end of the 20 overs DGS Knights managed to score 150 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

150 to chase is a herculean task but it becomes easier when your openers do well. Samba Bank were off to a steady start. Both the openers batted without any pressure and pelted the ball all around. Moin scored a quick 39 runs in just 20 balls with a strike rate of 195. His 5 fours and 2 maximums allowed Farooq Siraj to take his time and get settled. Farooq went on to score a brilliant 50 run knock in 46 balls. Provided this sort of a start, the rest of the batsmen performed their job well and contributed enough to chase the target. They lost only 4 wickets in the proceedings and in the 18th over they succeeded in their search for supremacy. Nathan Malik took 2 wickets for 32 runs in his four overs, and Ali Anum bowled at a tight line and length giving away only 14 runs in 3 overs. However these bowling performances could not stop Samba Bank to win the match by 6 wickets.
