Shan Foods cruised to victory against Team NSL in a match in the 33rd Challengers Corporate Cup.
Batting first, Team NSL were off to a decent start. Openers Farrukh Shahid (15 off 20 balls) and Hurr Abbas (27 off 18 balls) helped the team prevent any early losses. Their efforts were supported by one-down batsman Salman Memon, who smashed a quickfire 78 off 44 balls, including 12 boundaries. Ahmed Ali’s run-a-ball 24 helped the team move forward as well, but the middle and tail-end batsmen after him struggled to contribute much and got out for single digit scores. The team amassed 177 runs. Danish Farooqui was the sole wicket taker, with an incredible 5 wicket haul.
Shan Foods lost one of their openers for a duck, putting pressure on the team. However, opener Adeel Abid Shamsi responded to the bowlers with a fierce knock of 76 not out off just 46 balls, including 11 boundaries. He made strong partnerships with both Shehzar Hassan (33 off 33 balls) and Furqan Majeed (58 off 31 balls). The team easily chased down the target with the loss of only 2 batsmen. The opposition bowlers were unable to restrict Shan Foods’ batsmen.
Shan Foods won the match by 8 wickets.
