Shan XI hold nerve to upset ICT

Shan XI made the impossible possible by beating one of the toughest side of the competition in a thrilling match at RLCA.

Anything is possible in cricket and those who witnessed the thrilling match between ICT and Shan XI would agree. ICT who was having a dream run and was one of the toughest side of competition got a reality check from Shan XI.

ICT batted first and were off to a reasonable start both the openers were looking in good touch and were finding gaps. But unfortunately for ICT both could not convert their starts into something big, Fahad Jabbar got out for 19 where as Adeel Khan managed to score 14. Soon after the openers 2 more quick wickets fell which pushed ICT on the back foot. With 4 wickets down and ICT under pressure, Ibaad Khan walked out to bat at number 5. He played an innings of genius, scored runs at all around the park, smashed boundaries at will. Shan XI bowlers were looking clueless against Ibaad Khan. He single handedly took ICT to a very huge 205. Ibaad Khan was eventually dismissed by Fahad Khan but not before the damage. He scored 91 of just 51, an innings which lifted the entire ICT camp.

With a huge target and a very good bowling lineup in front Shan XI wanted someone to play a knock similar to Ibaad Khan. And fortunately for them they found that man in Rabish Ahmed. Everyone chipped in for Shan XI scored a few runs but it was Rabish Ahmed innings that made the difference. The target was huge and Rabish Ahmed played according to the situation. He smashed every bowler around the park on his way to a magnificent 113 of just 58 at a massive strike rate of 195. His innings had everything big shots, single doubles, finding gaps. He took liking to the ICT attack and smashed them all over the park. He was eventually dismissed for a 113. After him Noman Ampara held his nerve to take his side over the line in tight finish. In 19.5 overs at the expense of 7 wickets Shan XI managed to produce a remarkable effort to beat ICT and chase down a massive 205.
