A brilliant effort from the bowlers followed by a one man show from Asfand in the batting helped Southend Cubs crush Southend Bulls by 7 wickets.
A day where Southend Cubs dominated from ball one and did not allow Southend Bulls to take control in any department of the game. Southend Bulls batted first and their batting lineup was clueless against the powerhouse attack of Southend Cubs.There was no real partnership from Southend Bulls batsman as they fought for their survival against the quality bowling of Southend Cubs. Daniyal Shah, Noor Khurram and Abdullah Usmani picked up 2 wickets each and they broke the backbone of Southend Bulls. They not only picked up wickets but along with it kept the pressure on with their fine fielding and economical spells. This effort did not allow Southend Bulls to even cross the three figures as they were bundled out just for 93.
A job well done by their bowlers now it was upto their batsmen to prove their worth and Southend Cubs did not have to go very far to find their batting hero as Asfand the hard hitting opening batsman demolished the opposition with his fine hitting. It was a complete team effort with the ball but batting charge was led by Asfand as he scored 66 of just 30 balls. Asfand was in a hurry to get the game finished, though he lost 3 partners at the other end but that did not slow him down. With the efforts of Asfand, the target was chased down in just 12.3 overs at the expense of 3 wickets.
