The Garden Stallions Club took on Diamond XI in a match in which both teams battled it down to the wire.
Garden Stallions opened their batting in the first innings with Fayyaz Yousuf and Noman Khan. Despite establishing a steady start, both batsmen could not build onto their innings and got out for less than 30 runs. The remainder of the Stallions’ batting line-up was also reserved in their approach with Ghaziani scoring 30 off 32 balls and Fareed contributing with 18 off 13. The lower order could not provide a late flourish as the Stallions ended their 18-over innings with 134 on the board.
Chasing a modest 135, Diamond XI opener Aftab got off to a flyer, scoring 41 off just 21 deliveries at a strike rate of nearly 200. In an innings that featured three run-outs, none of the other Diamond XI batsmen could step up and take charge of the chase. Following small contributions from Fayyaz, Raheel, and Raza, the lower middle order completely faltered as three consecutive batsmen lost their wickets for golden ducks. Muhammad Bilal picked up 3 wickets, curtailing the run flow significantly.
Ultimately, with both teams having scored 134 runs in 18 overs, the match ended in a tie.
